PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – How about Brandon Aiyuk re-signing with the 49ers after all?
Several reports on Friday evening including from NFL Network Insiders Tom Pelissero and Mike Garafolo that San Francisco is now pushing to get a long-term deal down with their fifth-year receiver. Garafolo attended the Steelers preseason game on Friday night.
Pelissero said the situation is fluid with the Steelers and other teams remaining in the mix. The Athletic’s Dianna Russini reports the Steelers haven’t been involved in trade talks with San Francisco in the last 24 hours, but she texted an unnamed front office executive who said that the Niners are likely waiting as long as they can to see if they can get a team to meet their offer.
30-year 49ers reporter Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports the 49ers want a second and third-round pick for Aiyuk.
The 26-year-old has desired a new deal holding out of Organized Team Activities, mandatory mini-camp and now training camp. The 25th overall pick in 2020, Aiyuk is coming off his best season-75 receptions, 1342 yards, 17.9 per reception with seven touchdowns.
