Roethlisberger says the Rodgers/Metcalf connection could 'go crazy'

Retired Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger envisions big things with Pittsburgh’s offense this season with the Aaron Rodgers, DK Metcalf connection.

Speaking on this Footbahlin’ podcast, Big Ben said, “those two could go crazy.”

“It’s going to take a few weeks, potentially, I mean you’re going to see some flashes, you’re going to see some great things,” said Roethlisberger. “So, let me tell you this, when they get going, it’s going to be something special.”

Joe Starkey says Big already had the team at 11-6 before and wonders what he could possibly feel about the team now.

Roethlisberger did add the Rodgers/Metcalf connection will depend on how well the offensive line protects the quarterback through the season.

93.7 The Fan’s Mark Kaboly, of the Pat McAfee Show, has been at nearly every Steelers practice this preseason and he agrees with Ben that the potential is there.

“He’s right, they are difference makers, that DK Metcalf, Rodgers combination, if left to be able to have time to throw the ball is going to be special, but the offensive line . . . it’s a work in progress right now,” said Kaboly.

That “crazy stuff” from that connection might not come until Week 6 or 8 if the offensive line doesn’t jell quickly.
