PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – While a lot of attention, understandably, on the injury to Russell Wilson and his improvement, a few other injury notes Tuesday from Mike Tomlin including optimism with veteran guard Isaac Seumalo.

"I am excited about the potential of having Isaac back on the offensive line, especially given some of the attrition that has happened there in recent weeks," Tomlin said. "He was close last week. I think it's reasonable to assume he's got a real shot to make it this time around."

There are a few others who Tomlin said they will see how practice goes and each could potentially return against Dallas:
·     RB Jaylen Warren (knee)-splash playmaker has dealt with this and a groin injury already this season
·     RB Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle)-helped spark the offense late in the second quarter before his injury

Outside linebacker Nick Herbig suffered an ankle injury during the game on Sunday, was able to finish, but may be limited early in practice this week. Defensive lineman Keeanu Benton (undisclosed) is in a similar position after hobbling around a bit on Sunday. Both are expected to play.

A couple key players remain out for Sunday, linebacker Alex Highsmith (groin) and you saw the potential impact of him not being there on Sunday as the Steelers had only two sacks, none from linebackers. Guard James Daniels, still not ruled out for the season, is out with his Achilles injury.

Two thumbs up

Spencer Anderson didn't start, but quickly had to enter and play at right guard while rookie Mason McCormick made his second career start on the left side. Since the start of training camp, the Steelers lost guard/center Nate Herbig for the season, tackle Troy Fautanu after one start, Seumalo for the first four games and now Daniels.

"You handle that with quality depth," Tomlin said. "Thankfully that's something that we have. We've invested a lot the last several off-seasons in terms of acquiring young, talented people. They are capable. They are going to get an opportunity to show that."

"Guys like Spencer and Mason McCormick have done a real nice job and we expect that to continue."

Tomlin gave both young guards a 'two thumbs up' for their performances and said they didn't blink when it came to pressure situations.
