FS1’s Nick Wright is going to look awfully silly if the Steelers upset the Chiefs Sunday, or manage to keep the game close.

Earlier this week, the talking head declared playing the Steelers was actually better than a bye for Kansas City, because they could “get some cardio in and knock off some rust.” On Thursday, Wright continued his campaign, saying the Chiefs should sit Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill so they wouldn’t be risking injury.

“If I were Andy Reid, I would consider resting Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill this week,” he said. “Make sure they’re primed and ready to go for when the playoffs actually begin.”

To back up his point, Wright pointed to Ben Roethlisberger’s comments Wednesday about the Steelers having “no chance” against the Chiefs. While Roethlisberger was probably speaking a little facetiously in an attempt to motivate his teammates, it’s apparent Wright is just interested in trolling.

“This is the single biggest mismatch in Wild Card Weekend history,” he said. “Previously, up until last year, a team such as the Steelers would not be in the playoffs as the seventh seed. A team such as the Chiefs, a top two seed, would not be playing Wild Card Weekend. So it’s not over-the-top to say this is the biggest mismatch in Wild Card Weekend history.”

The Chiefs may have routed the Steelers last time they played, but Pittsburgh has been resilient all season long. Wright is showing no respect for the Black and Gold.

The Steelers just need to keep it competitive to prove him and overconfident Chiefs fans wrong.
