Poni: Some Steelers staff would 'love' to bring back DT Javon Hargrave

According to a report from Andrew Fillipponi, some Steelers staff members would like to see a reunion with current 49er Javon Hargrave.

The PM Team co-host says “the Steelers have staff member who would love to bring back former Steelers (defensive tackle) Javon Hargrave.”

Poni says that Hargrave already knows the Steelers defense “and is only 32.”

He adds that adding Hargrave would not stop them from taking a defensive lineman in the upcoming draft.

San Francisco has said they will cut Hargrave as a cost-cutting move, but had expressed interest in re-signing him at a reduced salary.

Hargrave was taken in the 3rd round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Steelers and was in Pittsburgh through 2019.

He signed a three-year deal with Philadelphia in 2020 worth $39 million.

After 60 tackles, a forced fumble, two fumble recoveries and 11 sacks in 2022, Hargrave signed a four-year $84 million deal with San Francisco.

He had a productive 2023 but after three games this past season tore his right triceps muscle and missed the rest of the season.

Over 130 career games, Hargrave has 380 tackles and 45.5 sacks.
