PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Mike Tomlin wanted to see the Steelers first team offense go through reps and did they look sharp. Kenny Pickett was 6 for 7 for 70 yards including a 33-yard TD to George Pickens on a third-and-eight for an opening drive score.
The only Pickett incompletion was when he was forced up in the pocket and threw it away. Diontae Johnson had three catches for 32 yards, including a 13-yarder on third-and-nine. Pat Freiermuth caught a six-yard pass. Jaylen Warren rushed three times for 13 yards and Najee Harris had a catch in the flat for negative one yard. The drive was 83 yards on seven plays.
Rookie tight end Darnell Washington played a number of snaps with the first team as all tight ends got in the game on the first series. Zach Gentry had a nice block on a 10-yard run by Warren.
The starting offensive line is what we saw in camp—from left to right—Dan Moore, Isaac Seumalo, Mason Cole, James Daniels, Chumwuma Okorafor.
Mitch Trubisky came in for the second series with the second offensive line including Broderick Jones at left tackle, last year's starter Kevin Dotson at left guard, Kendrick Green at center with Anthony McFarland the running back.
