PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers add a receiver and running back to the practice squad on Tuesday.
Drafted in the fourth-round by the Bengals in 2017, Josh Malone joins the Steelers. He was released by the Tennessee Titans after the first preseason game this year. The 26-year-old also spent two years with the Jets and parts of last year on the practice squads of the Broncos and Packers.
He’s 6’3” and has 11 career catches for 91 yards in 26 career NFL games. He’s a potential deep threat with good leaping abilities. His last season at the University of Tennessee (2016), he had 50 catches for 972 yards and 11 touchdowns. That’s 19.4 yards per reception.
Also returning is running back Jason Huntley, who is back on the Steelers practice squad. He was originally a Lions fifth-round pick in 2020 who spent most of his career with Philadelphia, rushing for 70 yards on 18 carries.
Steelers released safety Scott Nelson who spent a short time here and was never activated for a game.
