PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – The Steelers release a couple of veterans, former Pro Bowl players and signed another back on Friday afternoon.

Returning is nose tackle Breiden Fehoko. The 27-year-old was excited upon signing as a free agent last year, but never played in a game. He was on-and-off the practice squad. He played 19 games with four starts the previous three seasons with the Chargers.

The team officially releasing corner Patrick Peterson, that news was reported earlier.

He was one of the team’s best blockers last year, but receiver Allen Robinson only caught 34 passes for 280 yards and no touchdowns. He attempted to bring a veteran presence to the wide receiver room with his 10 years in the NFL out of Penn State. Robinson was due $10 million this coming season and might be re-signed at a lower price.

Right now, according to overthecap.com, the Steelers have $28,413,646 under the 2024 salary cap with free agency starting on Wednesday. The Steelers currently rank 17th in salary cap space ahead of the Browns, Cowboys, Chiefs, 49ers, Ravens and others.
