For those wanting Ben Roethlisberger to retire, yesterday showed that they don't have anyone behind him.

With Roethlisberger on the COVID protocol, Mason Rudolph started on Sunday against the winless Detroit Lions, who now have a least a tie, in part thanks to the quarterback's play.

While it wasn't all Rudolph's fault, see coaching decisions and defensive play, if Roethlisberger played, there's a good chance the Steelers win by double digits.

"They win by two touchdowns with Ben yesterday," said Ron Cook.

Bob Pompeani said he doesn't know if they win by two touchdowns but Roethlisberger would've found a way for them to win.

"He's a career backup," said Joe Starkey on Monday morning talking about Rudolph.

Rudolph underthrew Ray-Ray McCloud that would've been a touchdown in the third quarter and missed a pass to Diontae Johnson in the fourth quarter that would've been a first down.

Rudolph went 30 for 50 with 242 yards averaging 4.8 yards per catch, one touchdown and one interception and one fumble that resulted in a 19-yard loss.

Rudolph is now 5-4-1 in his career and while the Steelers say that they believe in Mason, he continues to show he can't be the Steelers future starter.

While we may not "believe in Ben" as much as we did in the past, he's their best, and only shot, if they want to win now.
