PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Undrafted out of college and entering a fourth NFL season, tailback Jaylen Warren became a restricted free agent. Monday, as first reported by NFL.com, the Steelers tendered the running back.
The 26-year-old Warren gets a second-round tender. That means if a team would want to sign him away, they would owe the Steelers this year’s second-round draft pick. If not, Warren will make $5.346 million for the 2025 season with the Steelers. In his previous three seasons, Warren made a total of $2.572 million.
The 26-year-old played in 15 games in 2024, the numbers down from 2023
· Carries 2023—149, 2024—120
· Yards 2023—784, 2024—511
· TD 2023—4, 2024—1
· Yards per carry 2023—5.3, 2024—4.3
· Receptions 2023-61, 2024—38
There is more to Warren’s game than just the numbers, a fearless blocker along with runner was undrafted out of Oklahoma State in 2022 and played in 16 games for the Steelers as a rookie.
With Najee Harris an unrestricted free agent, one of the big offseason questions is who they will pair with Warren in the backfield.
