Steelers injuries mount, but some players could return for Sunday

Tomlin hopeful, Conner, Pouncey, Nelson and Boswell will return

While more Steelers went down in their first loss of the season Monday evening, they are hopeful to get a few players back for their next big showdown Sunday night against Buffalo.

During his weekly press conference, Coach Mike Tomlin said that linebacker Robert Spillane (knee) and cornerback Joe Haden (concussion) are being evaluated and that their availability for Sunday is currently unknown.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported that Spillane will miss "some time" but won't require surgery and is expected back sometime this season.

Haden is in concussion protocol.

Cornerback Steve Nelson could come back and Tomlin is hopeful that running back James Conner and center Maurkice Pouncey will come off the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

Tomlin also said he is hopeful that kicker Chris Boswell will be able to return for the game against the Bills.
