The Steelers made a couple roster moves on Thursday morning, adding some safety depth, signing free agent Quindell Johnson.
The 6’2”, 208-pounder was on the Los Angeles Rams practice squad last year, signed and then released by the 49ers practice this year after a rookie season with Chicago.
Johnson had an interception in 2023 off Blaine Gabbert while playing in nine games with Chicago. He also finished with three tackles and a pass defense in 35 defensive snaps.
He joins three other former Memphis players currently with the Steelers—receivers Calvin Austin and Roc Taylor and running back Kenneth Gainwell. He had 10 career picks with the Tigers including four his senior season.
The Steelers also released defensive back Joshuah Bledsoe.
Bledsoe signed a reserve/futures contract with Pittsburgh this past January.
