PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers offensive coordinator Eddie Faulkner says they have addressed the situation with second-year receiver George Pickens, specifically with not blocking on a run near the goal line and running the other direction on an interception.
Faulkner said they presented it in front of the team. They addressed it.
"You make sure that it's called out amongst the guys and they understand where your stance is and you move on from that," Faulkner said Wednesday.
He said the expectation is that they execute every play at the highest level. That standard is held to every player. Faulkner says he believes in Pickens and that it will improve.
"Being here with George every day, I know he's a guy that loves it," Faulkner said. "He loves ball. He works at it. He wants to be good. That's where you find your peace and knowing that you can bring him along in that regard because he loves ball."
Faulkner added they keep hammering away at Pickens for the mistake, but he says he does so with a steady message. Not acting differently from how he addresses other issues. He makes it known that it's not acceptable and that he expects it to change.
"I think he is a young guy that's got to continue to learn how to be a professional," Faulkner said.
The Steelers offensive coordinator deferred to Mike Tomlin if there would be any disciplinary actions taken.
Faulkner believes in Pickens. Will the receiver reciprocate by changing?
