Steelers to interview McCarthy's former tight ends coach in Dallas for OC

According to reports, Steelers new head coach Mike McCarthy is beginning coordinator interviews this week.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that “Cowboys tight ends coach Lunda Wells is expected to interview this week for the Steelers offensive coordinator job.”

Wells was hired under McCarthy in 2020 as the tight ends coach for Dallas.

After McCarthy left the Cowboys, Wells stayed on as the tight ends coach and still holds the position.

Prior to that, Wells was an offensive line assistant and assistant special teams coach and assistant to the head coach between 2008-2001.

He joined the Giants as an offensive quality control coach in 2012, eventually becoming the tight ends coach during his last two seasons in New York.

The Washington Commanders requested an interview with Wells after their season before the team hired David Blough as their OC.
