Steelers Will Practice Thursday After Other Teams Cancel Practice

Ben Roethlisberger says it is time to listen and get educated.

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - While some teams around the NFL have postponed practice on Thursday, the Steelers will move forward with their 1:30 p.m. practice.

During a call with reporters, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said that head coach Mike Tomlin briefly spoke with the team about the current racial issues in the country.

Roethlisberger added that the team didn't take a vote to cancel practice.

While the team is not canceling practice, Roethlisberger said he will take this time to listen and for people to educate themselves.

"Each athlete and each person, whether it's a coach or who it is, has the choice to what level, to what degree to use their platform. The biggest thing for me right now is to listen to my African-American teammates and friends that aren't even in football just to get a better understanding to educate myself."

Roethlisberger added that he has yet to talk to team leaders like Cam Hayward but that he knows those conversations will happen.

"There's a lot of people that need to be heard and we've got a lot of great leaders on this team so we will all I'm sure have discussions as it gets closer," added Roethlisberger.

Roethlisberger said it is each athlete's choice how they use their platform.

"I think each athlete and each person whether it's a coach or whoever it is, has the choice to choose to what level and to what degree they want to use their platform," said Roethlisberger.

The New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Washington Football Team are just some of the teams that have canceled practice
