BUFFALO (93.7 The Fan) – Mike Tomlin said we can all draw conclusions from the 35-point whipping by the Bills on Sunday. He said they will consider making changes with players and coaches.
“You play like we did today and you have to be open to doing whatever is required to change the outcome of these games,” Tomlin said. “That’s a given. I don’t think anybody is going to be surprised by our willingness to turn over whatever stone to change the outcome of games. That’s just appropriate.”
If you are excited about potential changes, know this. He also said he still believes in his process and ‘although today is miserable. We won’t reinvent the wheel’.
There may be no visible changes at all.
Cam Heyward said the Bills won every facet of the game. The first thing they need to do is own it and every man has to look at their game and give more.
Every one.
“We are all grown men,” said safety Tre Norwood. “We have to own up to it, look ourselves in the mirror and make sure we go back to work. Fix the problems that need to be fixed and keep climbing uphill.”
“Anything is fixable,” said defensive lineman Chris Wormley. “I think we have to keep working, continue to play for one another. Continue to be the defense we know we can be. Those handful of plays are really going to show what this game tape was.”
There was an argument in the Steelers locker room in the game where one of the Steelers veteran defensive players was accusing another of not caring enough and some words were exchanged. More of that likely will happen even if we don’t see it.
“It’s really going to show the testament and character of our team the way we bounce back,” said linebacker Alex Highsmith. “This is an opportunity to rise up and get better. We know we are a way better team that what we showed out there today. It’s got to translate to the field. We are a talented team, we have to go out and show it.”
“We’ve all experienced losses in our past, I think we just learn from those losses,” said receiver Chase Claypool. “We have to learn from this one.”
“Just have to keep on improving and getting to the drawing board,” said offensive lineman James Daniels. “That’s one thing I said since preseason, every day as a team we are focusing on getting better every day. Focus on our detail, focus on our technique and keep on trying to improve.”
“We just got to claw, fight and dig our way out of the hole we dug,” said Minkah Fitzpatrick.
“This is one of those that you don’t forget,” said linebacker Myles Jack. “When you travel and you go to someone else’s house and they throw a party like this, it’s never something you forget.
It’s something you remember years from now.”
“A lot of good can come out of this if we react to it the right way.”
Now that’s glass half full.
