PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – From scrambles by Patrick Mahomes to another missed turnover opportunity, it was a game dominanted by the Chiefs. All the BIG plays from Steelers-Chiefs Christmas Day game.
1st quarter
· Nikko Remingio 25 yard punt return after the Steelers went three-and-out to give KC the ball at the Steelers 42-yard-line
· Kareem Hunt converts 4th and 1 with a 4-yard run
· TD, Mahomes 7-yard pass in left flat and Xavier Worthy dove for pylon for score. He then committed an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, making it a 48-yard extra point which Harrison Butker missed (8 plays, 42 yards, 3:56), 6-0 KC
· Following another KC sack, Steelers punt, Mark Robinson forces Remingo fumble, Chiefs recover at own 21-yard line
· 3rd and 11, crowd going crazy, Mahomes scrambling to his left and under pressure makes an underhanded flip to Samaje Perine for 14 yards
· Next play, Mahomes throws straight go 49 yards to Justin Watson (South Fayette HS grad)
· TD, Mahomes 11 yards to Watson (7 plays, 79 yards, 2:33), 13-0
· Russell Wilson throws a perfect first-down 50-50 ball for 41 yards to George Pickens followed by a Jaylen Warren 22-yard run
· Holding penalty on Darnell Washington NEGATES touchdown run by Warren
· Next play, Wilson throws into coverage trying to find Pat Freiermuth and intercepted by Justin Reid in the end zone
2nd quarter
· Wilson found Freiermuth for a pair of 15-yard receptions, Warren runs for 21 total yards on drive
· TD, 2nd and goal from the 1, Wilson scrambles to his left after play action and dives into corner of end zone (11 plays, 72 yards, 5:08), 13-7
· Patrick Queen stops DeAndre Hopkins short, getting 3 yards on 3rd and 4
· Chiefs holding against TJ Watt negates first-down reception on 4th and 1, forces punt
· A Wilson 3rd down scramble seemed to start a Steelers drive, but even a defensive penalty on 4th down couldn’t keep it going, punting it to KC with 1:04 to play in the half
· Steelers force 3-and-out as Minkah Fitzpatrick makes good 3rd down tackle on Worthy on a 3rd and 4 to stop him short
3rd quarter
· FG, Mahomes combined with Worthy for 36 yards and 13 to JuJu Smith-Schuster. Steelers able to hold to FG in red zone, big pass deflected by Alex Highsmith prevented TD throw to Kelce. Butker made 32 yarder (8 plays. 54 yards, 2:39), 16-7
· FG, Wilson with a 14-yard completion to Calvin Austin on 3rd down, 15 yard scramble on 3rd and 9, 21-yard pass to Warren led to Chris Boswell 36-yard FG (12 plays, 52 yards, 6:36), 16-10
· Momentum with the Steelers, 2nd and 14 for KC, Mahomes lasers a pass to Hollywood Brown on slant for 17 yards
· Mahomes then completes passes of 5, 12, 4, 19, 11, 7
4th quarter
· Kareem Hunt 2-yard TD run (2-point attempt intercepted by Cory Trice) (11 plays, 77 yards, 5:49), 22-10
· Following a 5th Wilson sack, he threw it in front of the sticks to Freiermuth, as he was fighting for 1st down yardage, fumbled, KC recovered
· TD, Mahomes finds Kelce for 20 yards and then 12 yards for touchdown, called for unsportsmanlike for attempting to dunk ball over crossbar (4 plays, 34 yards, 1:24), 29-10
