He was the most accurate mock drafter last year and in three other years, so who does Charlie Campbell, of Walter Football, think the Steelers will be taking at #21.
First off, Campbell tells Pomp and Joe that he doesn’t think a quarterback will be taken by the Steelers on Thursday night.
Why? Because “I just personally believe that they’re going to end up doing a deal with Aaron Rodgers and really go for it now by building up the team around him,” said Campbell.
Instead of a quarterback, Campbell believes it will be a defensive lineman in the first round and then a running back with their next pick (third round).
In his mock, Campbell is going with defensive tackle Derrick Harmon out of Oregon.
“I feel that Harmon really gives them a guy that can plug-and-play quickly at nose tackle,” said Campbell. “He’s versatile enough athletically where you can move him around in that front where you can move him around in that front where you can play him at nose, you can play him as a five-technique.”
Campbell adds that Harmon can also help give veterans like Cam Heyward a rest at times.
Campbell said Michigan defensive lineman Kenneth Grant is a possibility along with South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori.
But, with the NFL Draft, anything is possible and Campbell says the team could try to go for a QB like Shedeur Sanders or trade back a bit in the first-round.
It’s part of what makes the NFL Draft, especially the first-round, much-watch TV.
