TJ Watt named Steelers MVP for 4th time

Only Antonio Brown has won the award as many times

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Tied for the NFL lead in sacks with 17, probably not a surprise that TJ Watt is the Steelers MVP as voted by the players. Watt becomes the second player to win team MVP four times in his career, joining receiver Antonio Brown.

"Anytime your peers see the amount of work that I'm putting in and show they have respect for what I'm trying to do, it's super-gratifying," Watt said Tuesday. "That's all you want at the end of the day, to have the respect of the people you work with day-in and day-out. Just continually trying to get better, on-and-off the field as a leader to try to help this team in any way I possibly can."

"I would be lying if I said this didn't mean something to me. Doesn't matter how many times it is, each and every year, I'm trying to find ways to get better. I don't take this honor lightly at all."

The seven-year vet has sacks in all but four games this season and has a quarterback hit in all games but one. He even led the team in total tackles against Green Bay while adding four forced fumbles, an interception and eight passes defended on the season.

Minkah Fitzpatrick broke up a run of three consecutive team MVP awards for Watt last year.

The 2021 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Watt is the Steelers all-time sack leader with 94.5 in 103 games and has 104 tackles for loss in his career.
