Mike Tomlin said something that Andrew Fillipponi believes should be a huge topic, a viral clip!
Speaking to the media, the Steelers head coach said that this Sunday's upcoming final preseason game will go a long way toward who gets starting jobs when the season begins in a few weeks.
One of those positions is, of course, quarterback.
It's been assumed and hinted at by Tomlin that it would be Mitch Trubisky that will get the start when the Steelers open the season in Cincinnati.
But speaking on Monday, Tomlin said that Sunday will go a long way in deciding who will be QB1, at least to start the regular season.
Asked by ESPN's Brooke Pryor "one of those positions that come down to this week, the starting quarterback job?"
Tomlin simply replied, "yes."
So, it appears that even with almost everyone assuming that it was Trubisky's job, it sure sounds like Kenny Pickett has at least a shot at being the starting quarterback for the Steelers.
Pickett has impressed going 19-for-22 in two preseason appearances, with three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
The Post-Gazette's Brian Batko tells The PM Team that he doesn't take much stock in Tomlin's comments and that he doesn't believe Tomlin, adding he doesn't want to say anything, implying it will be Trubisky that ultimately is the starter for the regular season.
While Tomlin will likely still go with Trubisky as the starter, Pickett's impressive play is making Trubisky's leash shorter and shorter if he does stumble.
