PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers players said after the game they didn't hear the chants of 'Fire Canada' that resonated throughout Acrisure Stadium late in the win over Cleveland. Steelers found a way to win, but did so with only one offensive touchdown and negative yardage in the fourth quarter.
"We don't pay any attention to that," center Mason Cole said after the game. "It wasn't the plays called. Without looking at the film, I think it was lack of execution again. For whatever reason the last two weeks, we haven't executed to the level we know we can. We have to get that fixed."
Mike Tomlin did hear them, but says he doesn't share their concern for the offensive planning because he's part of the process. He said when you are a part of it, you have fewer concerns as you see what is going on. He said that makes it 'less troublesome for him'.
"I appreciate their passion," Tomlin did say about the fans on Tuesday. "I share their passion. We all do. We love our fans, man they inspire us. They challenge us. It's an awesome relationship, man."
"We don't run from challenges. We run to challenges. This is a sport and entertainment business. It is our job to win and thus entertain them. And so, you know, we don't begrudge them for that. We want them to be fat and sassy and spoiled. It is our job."
