The Steelers will be without at least three players when they open up Acrisure Stadium against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday afternoon.
Head Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that rookie tackle Derrick Harmon will miss his second-straight game with a knee injury he suffered in the last preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.
He continues to be “week-to-week” with a knee sprain.
Also ruled OUT is safety DeShon Elliott. He reportedly has an MCL sprain.
Linebacker Malik Harrison is the last player that Tomlin ruled out for Sunday. He also has a knee injury.
Tomlin said he is “optimistic” about cornerback Joey Porter Jr. after he left the Jets game Sunday with a hamstring.
He says he’ll wait to see how the week plays out with Porter.
Tomlin is also optimistic outside linebacker Nick Herbig will be able to return after missing the Jets game with a hamstring injury. He was limited in practice last week.
Tomlin also confirmed the impending signing of safety Jabrill Peppers.
“Highly familiar with him, not only from his time as a Cleveland Brown, but scouted him heavily when he came out of Michigan,” said Tomlin. “He’s a football players first, positional player second.”
