Speaking on Tuesday, wide receiver George Pickens said he didn’t block for running back Jaylen Warren because he didn’t want to risk an injury.
On Wednesday, Mike Tomlin made a rare media appearance (outside of his weekly news conference). He said Pickens will play on Saturday and any discipline will be handled in house.
Running back Jaylen Warren, who went from an undrafted free agent, to arguably the top offensive player on the field spoke about the play which Pickens took off.
Warren told the Post-Gazette’s Ray Fittipaldo that he understood Pickens’ explanation and that he was doing what he thought was best.
But, Warren is built a little different.
“Some people play the game differently,” Warren said. “If I was in that position I would have blocked for him. But we play differently, so . . . .”
Maybe if more players had the kind of attitude Warren does, the Steelers wouldn’t be 7-7.
