The Steelers have officially active offensive lineman Stefen Wisniewski to its 53-man roster.
To make room, the Steelers placed reserve linebacker Ulysees Gilbert on the Reserve/Injured list.
Gilbert is dealing with a back injury.
The NFL veteran and Central Catholic grad Wisniewski, who signed a two-year deal with the Steelers in the offseason, has been on the IR since after the first game of the season.
He returned to practice in the middle of October and that opened a 21-day window for the Steelers to decide if Wisniewski was healthy enough to return or he would have been placed on season-ending IR.
Wisniewski strengthens the O-line and will backup center Maurkice Pouncey and guard David DeCastro.
Wisniewski won a Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs last season.
