Earlier this week, the Washington Post broke a story about Washington Football Team owner Daniel Snyder allegedly impeding the NFL’s investigation into sexual harassment claim by using “intimidation” tactics in an attempt to silence an accuser.

Roger Goodell has not had time to read it, though.

The NFL commissioner pled ignorance toward the report while meeting with reporters on Wednesday in Dallas, but assured everyone there was no interference with Beth Wilkinson’s ability to conduct a proper and thorough investigation.

“I haven’t read the story, but you know we went through a very lengthy period of investigation and discussions,” Goodell said. “The one thing I can say with 100 percent assurance is it didn’t interfere with the work that our investigator did. We were able to access all the people that she wanted to access, have multiple conversations with…those people.

“There’s always a little bit of a tug and a pull, particularly of lawyers and law firms. That’s something that I think we were able to overcome and make sure that we came to the right conclusion.”

According to the Washington Post story, Wilkinson sought to speak with a former team employee who reached a confidence $1.6 million settlement with the team after accusing the owner of sexual misconduct in 2009.

Snyder’s attorneys reportedly attempted to prevent the accuser from speaking to Wilkins, including offering her more money, per a letter the accuser’s attorney wrote to Snyder’s lawyers.

Wilkinson eventually did interview the accuser.

Snyder’s law firm denied the allegations.
