Shortly after it was reported Steelers defensive lineman Cam Heyward wants a new deal and more money, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is also reporting kicker Chris Boswell wants a new deal as well.
Schefter says the star kicker “privately has been seeking a new contract from the Steelers, per source.”
Boswell is set to make a base salary of $3.12 million this season with a $1.6 million signing bonus.
According to Schefter, Boswell was the lowest-paid kicker last season in the AFC North.
Like Heyward, Boswell was once one of the highest-paid at his position, but the market has been reset over the past few years.
Going into this year, the 34-year-old is the 11th highest-paid kicker in the NFL.
Browns kicker Dustin Hopkins and Bengals’ Evan McPherson both make more than Boswell.
McPherson averages $5.5 million a year.
