The political scene in the United States is wild.
The former President of the United States is on trial for allegedly falsifying business records to hide a payment to a former porn star to keep her quiet.
That porn star, Stormy Daniels, real name Stephanie Clifford, was on the stand Tuesday during the trial and she mentioned two-time Super Bowl Champion and future Hall of Fame quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Tyler McBrien, a writer with Lawfare, who is in the courtroom for the trial, tweeted that Daniels brought up Roethlisberger during testimony.
She said that she was introduced to Roethlisberger by Donald Trump at a nightclub and that she tried on his Super Bowl ring. This was shortly after the Steelers' 2006 win against the Seattle Seahawks.
Daniels has talked about “Big Ben” in the past, saying in her book “Full Disclosure” that he scared her back in 2006 when he reportedly wouldn’t leave after walking her back to her hotel room.
He eventually left after a few minutes, according to Daniels.
The testimony on Tuesday was by far the most-awaited spectacle in a trial that has toggled between tabloidesque elements and dry record-keeping explanation. A courtroom appearance by a porn actor who says she had an intimate encounter with a former American president adds to the long line of historic firsts in the case, which was already laden with tawdry claims of sex, payoffs and cover-ups. It is unfolding as the presumptive Republican nominee makes another bid for the White House.
