It’s been two months since the Jaguars pulled the plug on their failed Urban Meyer experiment, admitting defeat on one of the most disastrous head coaching stints in NFL history. Not only did Meyer prove ill-equipped as a leader, alienating players and coaches with his arrogance, he also did irreparable damage to his public image, humiliating the Jaguars with constant missteps and off-field scandals.

After a loss to Cincinnati in Week 4, Meyer didn’t accompany his team back to Jacksonville, instead spending the night at his “Pint House,” where onlookers captured video of the former Ohio State coach dancing inappropriately with someone who was not his wife.

Meyer would later apologize, though the controversy followed him for the remainder of his Jaguars tenure, coming to symbolize the coach’s self-destructive tendencies and stunning lack of professionalism. According to Ben Koo of Awful Announcing, “Urban’s Chophouse” in Columbus, which opened last May, was recently sold to new investors, who, in a concerted effort to distance itself from Meyer, plan to rebrand it under a new name (Chophouse 614). The restaurant is also changing its signage and menu with plans to hire a new chef and general manager.

The bar where Meyer’s embarrassing incident occurred in nearby Dublin remains open, though it’s clear, even in Columbus where he won a National Championship, the 57-year-old’s name no longer carries the same weight.
