Would Arthur Moats Own The NFL If He Played In The 1950's Or 1960's?

Hint: He Says He'd Be SMOKING People

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - Mel Blount went on former Steeler Bryant McFadden's podcast and said if he played in today's NFL he'd pick off 30 passes each season with how much they throw the ball now.

Former Steelers linebacker Arthur Moats joins The PM Team every Tuesday from 2 to 6pm and was asked how he felt about Mel's comments.

"I don't have an issue with it," Moats said. "I feel like as competitors, we're always going to say that our generation is the best."

From there though, we pressed Arthur on how he'd have done if he played back in the day.

"I hear the older guys talking, but if you smoked cigarettes at halftime, I personally don't think that you can get me!"

Asked what he would do in a game back in the 50's or 60's, Arthur said he would do "great with a capital G...how big is a left tackle in that time frame? 6'2, 6'3, 230 or 240? I played at JMU, 1-AA, we don't have big tackles, we got undersized guys. You saw what my numbers were there, you do the math!"

Now what about if you took a Hall of Famer from back in the day and moved them to today's NFL? Does Arthur think ta guy like Jim Brown would still dominate?

"He's a guy," Arthur said meaning he'd just be an average player, but added "they're going to be saying the same thing about our generation 20, 30 years from now."

But what about Brown? How would he do against a defensive lineman like Stephon Tuitt who measures in at 6'6, 303 pounds.

"Jim Brown ain't stiff arming that like he was those construction workers by then!"
