Starbucks is officially bringing back its personal reusable cup option after the COVID-19 pandemic temporarily suspended the service.
The coffee company announced that beginning on June 22, all Starbucks stores across the nation would reintroduce the service through a “completely contactless” method.
According to Today, a Starbucks barista will check if the cup is clean and then will put it into a ceramic vessel. Any drinks from Starbucks will be made without any contact with the cup. The customer will also grab their drink at the handoff area of the counter.
While the service will be available in stores, reusable cups will not be accepted at drive-thrus across the US.
Back in March of 2020, Starbucks suspended personal cups and tumblers to help prevent the spread of coronavirus. The policy took place at all North American stores. Starbucks continued to give a 10-cent discount to customers who bring in their cups.
