A connoisseur of the world of business and entrepreneurship, FUBU C.E.O and an investor on the Emmy-award winning show, Shark Tank, Daymond John, is stepping into new territory with his latest business venture and doing what hasn’t been done before– teaching financial literacy to children.

John stopped by V103's The Big Tigger Morning Show to promote his new children’s book, Little Daymond Learns to Earn and share his inspiration behind it.
“Our kids don’t have financial intelligence,” he stated. “Our school system is antiquated because our school system really is teaching you key things we needed to know 50-60 years ago.”
The book is for ages 5-10 and promotes financial literacy and opening businesses in a way that children will understand. “Honestly I was tired of reading my daughter all these princess books saying that some prince is going to come around one day,” he said while explaining where some of the inspiration came from.
He has three daughters, two being in their twenties and one being seven. Damond explains that when he initially tried teaching his oldest daughters financial intelligence the lesson he taught them was "if you work hard, I’ll double the money,” but realized he wasn’t teaching financial literacy he was increasing their work ethic.
So as the years went on, he noticed something was missing from the curriculum for today’s children and wanted to fill that void. “When I die I want my daughter to say I sparked a movement.”
When he talks about the book, Johns wears this captivating top hat and he explains that while some people may try to make fun of him for it, the kids love it. “When I’m on Shark Tank in my $10,000 Tom Ford suit, a kid don’t care about that, when I walk into schools they don’t care about that. So when I put the top hat on, they’re like ‘oh you’re going to do magic?’”
To which he responds, “I am going to teach them magic, how to be successful.”
