D.C. joins Colorado, Washington, Utah, and Oregon as states with the least amount of physical inactivity, according to a newly released study by the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention.
The CDC, along with state health departments, is conducting an ongoing survey collecting information on adult physical activity.
Combined data from 2015 through 2018 showed that people self-reported that they were engaging in phyiscal activity.
While levels were varied by race, ethnicity, and location Colorado, Washington, Utah, and Oregon and D.C. reported that only 15% to less than 20% of adults were physically inactive.
This compares with 24 states where 20% to less than 25% of adults were physically inactive, 15 states where 25% to less than 30% of adults were physically inactive, seven states and two U.S. territories where 30% or more of adults were physically inactive.
The south had the highest percentage of physical inactivity among adults, according to the CDC.
