A long awaited celebration is coming to D.C.

The Washington Mystics will be honored for their 2019 Championship win with a celebration and parade before the start of the 2020 season.

On Tuesday, May 12, a parade starting at the National Museum of Women and ending at the Capital One Arena, will celebrate the championship title, according to a press release.

“This is the beginning of a new tradition in the District of Champions: kicking off a new season with parades and banners,” Mayor Muriel Bowser said.

The parade will begin at 11 a.m. and will be followed by a block party and banner raising.

“This celebration will be something that elevates and unites our community. We want to create something special as a way to say thank you to our fans and to demonstrate to the world why we are the District of Champions," said Ted Leonsis, Monumental Sports & Entertainment Chairman and CEO.
