Purchasing a latte a day can really add up. And if you choose to go for a non-dairy milk option, you're likely to up your cost more than a few cents.
PETA is seeking to put an end to the non-dairy milk upcharge that many vegan, dairy intolerant, and almond milk lovers know all to well.
“Soy and nut milks shouldn’t cost a cent more than their dairy counterparts, which are cruel to cows, contribute to climate change, and are indigestible to many humans,” PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman said in a press release. “PETA is upping the pressure on Starbucks to wake up and smell the coffee: It’s time for the unfair surcharge to end.”
On Wednesday,PETA protesters will gather at Starbucks on Clarendon Boulevard in Northern Virginia for an hour long sit-in.
The protest is scheduled to begin at 12 noon and is part of a larger initiative called PETA’s Week of Action.
Throughout the week, those who support the cause will occupy locations across the United States and Canada.
