A Hollywood Hills house, that repeatedly hosted several large parties in violation of public health orders this month, has had its power cut by the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) as authorized by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
“With more than 2,000 Angelenos — and over 170,000 Americans — lost to COVID-19, we need every resident to undertake critical safeguards to stop the spread of this virus. That includes not hosting or attending parties that put themselves, their neighbors, and many others at risk.Despite several warnings, this house has turned into a nightclub in the hills, hosting large gatherings in flagrant violation of our public health orders. The City has now disconnected utilities at this home to stop these parties that endanger our community," Garcetti said in a press release.
"Upon receiving authorization from Mayor Garcetti, today the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power disconnected utility service at the house," the press release said.
Earlier this month, a house in the Hollywood Hills was used to host a large gathering.
"While those gatherings were in progress, the Los Angeles Police Department visited the property and posted warnings on the property, providing notice that violations of the Order are subject to civil and criminal penalties. The initial warning also provided notice that any future violation of the Order at this property may result in a referral to the Mayor’s Office for review and issuance of a directive to disconnect utility service."
The house hosted another large gathering on Aug. 14, according to the Mayor's office.
"While that gathering was in progress, the Los Angeles Police Department again visited the property and posted a final notice that the matter may be referred to the Mayor’s Office for review and issuance of a directive to disconnect utility service," the press release said.
