Actress Courteney Cox and Country singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile are giving a whole new meaning to sliding in the DMs.

After seeing Cox’s cover of Carlile’s GRAMMY-winning song, “The Joke,” on Instagram, Carlile reached out and the two immediately made plans for a Sunday jam session at Cox’s house.
"It's astonishing how f---ing good [the cover] was," Carlile said in a recent joint-interview with Cox for EW. "It was just great. Courteney's a badass piano player. So we met on Instagram and bonded over piano music."
"I was so excited about it," said Cox. "I was practicing 'The Joke' over and over. I get performance anxiety, but I was so thrilled that she was going to come to the house."
While COVID-19 forced the musically connected friends to postpone their original meeting, they were sure to make it up the first opportunity they had, which ended up being this spring. No surprise to either talent, the first in-person meeting made them “soulmate type pals for life.”
"You invited me over and we became totally fast friends, soulmate type pals for life,” shared Carlile. “We actually have a lot in common.”
The bond they share was heightened even further when Cox pitched Carlile a concept for the music video of “Right On Time,” which made Carlile feel “seen.”
“I was captivated,” Brandi said. “I really feel seen by Courteney. I don't feel like ‘Brandi Carlile’ with her, I feel like Brandi. That's why the video spoke to me. I knew she was just seeing something about who I am and why I wrote that song that I didn't expect anyone to see.”
“Right On Time,” is the lead single off Carlile’s recently announced 7th studio album, In These Silent Days, releasing October 1.
