During his time on the episode, McCartney shared his first memories of meeting SNL producer, Lorne Michaels, and how he landed a gig as a musical guest for the first time in 1980.
“I sent him [Michaels] a tape and he was impressed,” McCartney recalled. “He asked me to come to his house and I stayed in ‘Jack’s room,’” he laughed after Carvey shared a story of the same room, which was regularly stayed in by Jack Nicholson.
“I love Lorne, and like you, have known him a long time,” he shared. “He’s become a friend and not just ‘the SNL guy.’ We can talk problems with each other like friends do and sort things out. He’s very funny, very laid back.”
