That’s right, the classic film we all know and love is back. Inspired by the original film and award-winning Broadway musical, the Mean Girls movie musical is so ready to make fetch happen — again.
Starting off with a warning — “This is not your mother's Mean Girls” — the trailer gives us our first glimpse of Reneé Rapp as Regina George, Tina Fey and Tim Meadows returning as Ms.Norbury and Principal Duvall, the iconic Burn Book, Winter Talent Show, and so much more.
Much like the 2004 version, the new era of Mean Girls will follow teenager Cady Heron, played by Angourie Rice, who moves to North Shore High School and hatches a plan with Janis and Damian to infiltrate and seek revenge against The Plastics, led by Regina George.
But, as it's also adapted from the 2018 Broadway musical — it’s not just a regular movie, it’s a cool movie — that will feature iconic musical numbers throughout. So grool! We meant to say cool but then we started to say great.
Taking on the Gen-Z rolls of the sidekick Plastics are Bebe Wood as Gretchen and Avantika Vandanapu as Karen. Janice is played by Auli’i Cravalho (aka Moana herself), Damian by Jaquel Spivey, and Christopher Briney (aka Conrad The Summer I Turned Pretty) is our new Aaron Samuels. While Jon Hamm will take on the role of misbehaving gym teacher Coach Carr, and Emily in Paris’ Ashley Park, a new to the plot line French teacher.
So what are you waiting for, check out the trailer above. Something tells us you wont wanna miss it — it’s like we have ESPN or something.
