On his latest album—the double-Grammy-nominated Absence—trumpeter Terence Blanchard pays tribute to one of jazz's greatest composers in Wayne Shorter. Teaming up with both his electric ensemble the E-Collective and Turtle Island Quartet, Blanchard reimagines songs from across Shorter's adventurous catalog and shares songs inspired by the saxophonist.
The six time Grammy award winner, who is in his 30th year as a recording artist, joined the Wave's Pat Prescott to talk about his upcoming performance of that music at the beautifully renovated Ford Theater on Tuesday August 9.
Blanchard chats with Pat about his pandemic break, the influence of Wayne Shorter on his life and music and what to expect on August 9th at the Ford Theater. Hear it all and check out the show. For details visit HERE.
