According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, at least 70 people on a month-long cruise from Singapore to Los Angeles have fallen ill with norovirus.

The passengers fell sick aboard the Coral Princess, which hosts 1,822 passengers and 907 crew members. The CDC shared that 55 passengers and 15 crew members have fallen ill so far.
The CDC shared that most of those who have contracted norovirus have suffered “diarrhea and vomiting.”
The ship departed Singapore on Oct. 17 and has implemented more serious “cleaning and disinfection procedures according to their outbreak prevention and response plan.”
The CDC’s Vessel Sanitation Program has started monitoring the outbreak remotely.
The federal agency requires ships to report outbreaks where 3% or more of guests and crew experience symptoms, Cruise Hive reported.
Norovirus is the leading cause of vomiting, diarrhea, and foodborne illness in the US, according to the CDC. The health agency shared that the virus is very contagious, and along with gastrointestinal symptoms, it can also cause fever, headache, and body aches.
