MEDFORD, Ore. (KNX) – A California man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for kidnapping three people, including a "former dating partner."

Federal officials said 45-year-old George Rose, of Humboldt County, was sentenced on Tuesday. In May 2021, he was charged with kidnapping and illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon. He pleaded guilty to both charges in September.
Officials did not reveal the genders or ages of the victims.
On Aug. 3, 2020, Rose broke into his former dating partner’s apartment and confronted the former partner and their roommate with a shotgun he stole from the victim’s landlord.
Officials said Rose bound both victims’ hands and feet and duct taped their mouths.
“Rose located a third victim in an adjacent bedroom and tied them up in a similar manner at gunpoint. When the third victim tried to break free of the binding, Rose struck them in the head with the butt of the stolen shotgun,” the U.S. Attorney’s Office District of Oregon said.
Rose put all three victims into a pickup truck he stole and drove off. Hours later, he let the second and third victim go in an area of Northern California, telling to get help from house that was two miles away.
He kept the first victim, his ex, in the car and drove to Oregon. Rose left the truck and took the victim with him to a wooded area where he said he planned to kill the victim and then himself.
After three days, the first victim convinces Rose to turn himself in. Rose then allowed the victim to go to a nearby residence and “negotiate the terms of (Rose’s) surrender to police.”
In addition to prison time, Rose will have five years’ supervised release.
