ALTADENA (CNS) - A man who stabbed a woman with a sharp object and attempted to stab a man was shot to death by sheriff's deputies in Altadena, authorities said today.
The shooting occurred around 5:15 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of El Sereno Avenue, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported.
Deputies were first called to a gas station on the corner of Fair Oaks Avenue and Woodbury Road of a man chasing people and attempting to stab them with a sharp metal object, sheriff's officials said.
Deputies followed the man to the 2100 block of El Sereno Avenue where they saw him stab an elderly woman and attempt to stab a male before shooting him, officials said.
The suspect died at the scene, the LASD said. No deputies were injured.
A sharp metal object was recovered at the scene, officials said.
The man's name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
