As the war with Iran continues, gas prices finally hit the $6 mark in Los Angeles overnight for the first time in years.
“The highest recorded average price for Los Angeles was $6.49, and that was on October 5th of 2022,” Candace Redd, with the Auto Club, told KNX News’ Jon Baird.
Jet fuel and diesel prices have also jumped too, and oil industry analyst Andrew Lipow said that means drivers will likely pay more for stuff they buy.
“Diesel is the important fuel for transportation, and unfortunately, the higher the diesel prices,” he said. “That cost is going to be passed through to the consumer in the goods and services they buy.”
For drivers who want to save money, Redd said they may need to consider other options, including public transit and carpooling.
