Immigrant advocacy groups held a rally in downtown Los Angeles Thursday before a hearing in a case challenging the ICE raids across Southern California.

Teresa Romero, president of the United Farm Workers, said a judge needs to stop warrantless arrests by ICE agents.

“So far, several people have died and nobody has been accountable for that, and we need to make sure that we are loud enough for people to hear that we're not gonna give up,” she said.

The case, Vasquez Perdomo v Mullin, was filed by the ACLU and seeks to stop warrantless arrests, as well as racial profiling and suspicious stops by federal immigration agents.

CHIRLA's Jeannette Zanipatin says the outcome of the hearing is important as the Department of Homeland Security is getting more funding to continue immigration enforcement around the country.

“We're obviously concerned about how immigration rates and detentions are going to change, so we know that their quotas are going to go up,” she said.
