Our KNX Hero of the Week, Ellie Yoshino, is leading the way among her classmates and inspiring all those around her!

Yoshino is a senior in the Ballet and Contemporary Dance Conservatory at the Orange County School of the Arts. In addition to dancing and being a student, she has also started her own outreach club at the school where they teach creative arts to some of our youngest future superstars.

“Every single month we go to volunteer,” she told Heroes host Heather Jordan. “It's a club here at my school of around 50 members, and we basically teach little kids at the children's daycare about the different variety of arts.”
Yoshino says the kids inspire her.
“It's just, like, in their eyes,” she said. “You can see like the spark light up and it's just like motivating for me to keep teaching younger kids of like all the capabilities and possibilities there are of like the world."

Giving back to the community is something she’s been doing for years. Yoshino has been volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club since she was 7 years old, and she even raised money recently to support future students at her school by selling some of her most cherished personal items.
Her mom, Michelle says Yoshino had collected over 100 Judith Leiber designer handbags.
“She took pictures and put together this beautiful catalog,” she said. “She sold over $10,000 worth of the purses, and she's donating all to OSHA.”

Yoshino says giving back “motivates me and inspires me to continue what I'm doing.”
“If people do look up to me for all of my involvement here at school and on and off campus, I just see it as a motivation for me to continue to do good,” she said.
