L.A. police arrest one suspect in follow away attempted robbery, second suspect at large

LOS ANGELES (KNX) – The Los Angeles Police Department arrested one of the suspects in an attempted robbery earlier this month.

On April 16, the victims were stopped in traffic at the intersection of Highland Avenue near Melrose Avenue. A black 2020 Alfa Romero SUV pulled up alongside the victims’ car and pointed a handgun at them, demanding the victims pull over.

“The victim tried to flee by driving away but got stuck in traffic,” the department said. “The suspect followed and collided with the rear of the victim’s vehicle causing a four-vehicle collision.”

The suspects left their car and the scene shortly after.

On April 19, officers arrested Cyree Jamal Carter, 23, in Long Beach for the attempted robbery. Carter led officers on a brief chase before crashing his car. He was charged with attempted robbery and assault with a deadly weapons. He posted bond and was released from jail.

Detectives say they’re looking for the second suspect in the attempted robbery. The second suspect is described as a female in her 20s and 5’6.

Anyone with information about the suspects or incident is asked to call the Follow Home Robbery Task Force at Robbery-Homicide or Detective Moreno and Detective Vargas at (213) 486-6840.
