La Habra police motorcycle officer injured in crash

A La Habra police motorcycle officer was critically injured in a traffic collision Thursday.

According to the La Habra Police Department, the crash occurred at 9:15 a.m. at Lambert Road and Walnut Street. The circumstances of the crash were not immediately released, but video from the scene showed the crumpled motorcycle in the middle of the intersection.

The cycle apparently collided with a small, tan-colored SUV, which remained at the scene and sustained heavy damage on its passenger side. The SUV's airbags were also deployed.

Early Thursday afternoon, La Habra police said the officer "is in critical but stable condition."

"Thank you to the public for all the prayers and positive messages we have received," police wrote on the agency's Instagram page.

The California Highway Patrol was investigating the crash.

No other details were immediately available.
