LOS ANGELES (KNX) — A man was killed after he was hit by car in Gardena Sunday morning.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the incident happened around 2:40 a.m. A car was reportedly speeding north on Vermont Avenue when it struck the male victim who was riding his bike, according to police.
Officials said at the time the victim was hit, he was crossing on Alondra Boulevard on a marked crosswalk.
The car fled after striking the victim.
LAPD, as well as the Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim’s identity has not been revealed; however, LAPD described him in a press release as a 39-year-old.
The description of the car has not been made public at this time.
