Legendary TV talk show host Phil Donahue dies at 88

Phil Donahue, the legendary TV talk show host, has died at the age of 88.

Donahue passed away Sunday night following a long illness. His family confirmed the news to the Today Show on Monday.

"Donahue died at his home surrounded by his family, including his wife of 44 years, Marlo Thomas, his sister, his children, grandchildren and his beloved golden retriever, Charlie," the Today Show reported.

Details about his cause of death were not released.

Donahue hosted his groundbreaking daytime talk show for 29 years.
