Maggie catches up with Joi D. McCoy from Hairspray

If you have never seen Hairspray or you've seen it a dozen times, you've got anotherchance because the musical is playing at The Segerstrom Center for the Arts and then the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. The inspiration for it comes from the 1988 film of the same name, directed by John Waters and was the most successful commercial film of his career. The inspiration for "The Corny Collins Show" is loosely based on the teen program out of Baltimore called the "Buddy Deane Show" and the racial events surrounding it in the late 50's.
Joi D. McCoy joins us to tell us about her role as Little Inez and her journey to act, sing and dance on this national tour. She JUST graduated UCLA two years ago and now has a pivotal role in this iconic musical and is a little bit of a thrill seeker as well.
To find out more or to get tickets go to BroadwayinHollywood.com,
Dolbytheatre.com or scfta.org.
The dates for Segerstrom Center for the Arts are April 18 - 30th and for
The Dolby from May 2 - 21st.
